The Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation program has already left an imprint on each beneficiary. In the first three months of implementation of the program in the province of South Cotabato, many lives of children aged 6–23 months old have already changed. From wasted to normal, stunted to normal, and underweight to normal.

This only proves that a dietary supplementation program is effective and efficient in battling against malnutrition if administered timely, correctly, and properly. Now, we’ll talk about the story of Ryniel, a 10-month old child from Purok Bagong-silang, Caloocan, Koronadal City. Ryniel is the second child in the family.

Ryniel has the nutritional status of a wasted before receiving commodities such as Rice Mongo and Sesame blend, Mingo Meals, and Momsies for the Tutok Kainan DSP. Ryniel's guardian is his grandmother, Lydia, since his mother works full time to fulfill the duties of both father and mother.

According to his grandmother, Ryniel was really a timid child, never wanting himself to be associated with another child, and sickly. And when she was informed that her grandchild would be one of the 20 beneficiaries of the program in the city, her heart really melted, as for her, the program could really change the course of life for her grandchild.

As of today, Ryniel is now a child who smiles brightly, who is friendly, not sickly and, most importantly, has a normal nutritional status. Furthermore, thanks to her grandmother, Ryniel enjoys all of the food commodities he receives every day, and his appetite improves significantly. Also, Lydia stated how grateful she is to the program as every day she has witnessed the great improvement of her grandson because of it.

But the story of Ryniel wouldn’t be this successful without the selfless effort of the Barangay Nutrition Scholars of Brgy. Caloocan, who are diligent in monitoring the program and delivering the food commodities every day. Thank you for doing this and stepping an extra mile to help the future of our country.
