DAR SARANGANI PROVINCE CONDUCTS NUTRITION AND FOOD SAFETY ORIENTATION

Fad diets are all over the social media and internet nowadays. Some Nutrition Guro claims that a specific diet would be helpful in weight loss. Some also, would try and recommend Ketogenic Diet for faster weight loss.

The fact that more people are embracing this trend because they find it to be effective while ignoring the negative long-term effects makes, this issue particularly pertinent today.

The DAR Sarangani province held a nutrition and food safety orientation as part of their month's culmination activity to address this FAD diet trend in their organization. Katty T. Parreño, Development Management Officer II from the National Nutrition Council XII, served as the resource speaker at the gathering via online platform. The discussion centered on how Filipinos' diets were changing due to Western influences, and it also addressed concerns about FAD diets.

The DAR Sarangani initiative is a wise move and a fantastic opportunity to promote healthy living and good nutrition for people of all ages, but especially for office workers who lead sedentary lifestyles and are vulnerable to weight gain if food intake is not controlled.

"Input VS Output" is the key theme throughout the event. The Food Pyramid, the Ten Kumainments, and Pinggang Pinoy for Filipinos were among the other nutrition recommendations that were covered. A safe and effective weight loss program also heavily emphasized and the ideal body weight.

The lecture discussed basic food safety, including the dos and don'ts when preparing cooked and fresh foods. The likelihood and percentage of contracting a foodborne illness while dining out were also covered. DMO II Parreño encourages participants to cook their own meals in the healthiest and most secure manner and follow the Ten Kumainments guidelines to promote positive nutrition practices, prevent malnutrition, and encourage the adoption of a healthy lifestyle.
