The Regional Bantay Asin Task Force (RBATF) of SOCCSKSARGEN held its second meeting of the year 2022 on October 24, 2022, at the Villa Amor Hotel in Koronadal City.

The meeting was held to evaluate and assess the progress and situation of salt iodization, its implementation, and monitoring in the region.

During the meeting, the following topics were discussed and discoursed:

- The results of salt testing conducted by the Food and Drug Administration Region 12 at one of the region's major salt distributors in General Santos City.

- Establishment and reorganization of Local Bantay Asin Task Forces (LBATF) in all provinces and local government units throughout the region.

- The status and submission and compliance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the National Nutrition Council XII and four provinces and cities in the region.

- Re-sending NSIP (National Salt Iodization Program) Guidelines to all LGUs for use in strengthening salt monitoring at the local level.

- Communication gap between the Local Nutrition Office and Sanitary Inspectors regarding salt monitoring

- Purchase of a WYD (Wavelength-spectrophotometer) Iodine Checker

The meeting was attended by key personnel from DOH, Dep-Ed, DOST, Food and Drug Administration, and NCIP, as well as Nutrition Officers from South Cotabato Province, Sanitary Inspectors from South Cotabato Province, Koronadal City, Tacurong City, Kidapawan City, and Sultan Kudarat Province.
