Pikit Municipal Nutrition Office in partnership with National Nutrition Council Region XII conducted Refresher Course on Basic Skills for Barangay Nutrition Scholars last October 26-28,2022 at Mergrande Hotel and Resort, Davao City, and was participated by 15 nutrition workers from the Municipality of Pikit North Cotabato.

In line with this, National Nutrition Council XII, DMO- II for Cotabato Province, Marie Jane B. Lihao, RND facilitates and provides technical assistance for the conduct of the said activity. Lihao also acted as a resource person and delivered the following topics:

Legal basis and rationale for the implementation of the BNS Program, Selection, Recruitment, and Benefits/Incentives of the BNS Program, Roles and functions of a BNS, Core Values of a BNS, Basic Concepts in Food and Nutrition, Different Forms of Malnutrition, Causes, and Consequences, Communication Skills, Presentation Skills, Advocacy Skills, Documentation, Report Writing, and Record-Keeping, Time Management, Organizing Skills and Coordinating Skills.

Ms. Alexus Jane M. Gutierrez, RND, and Mr. Jeffson Bolante, RND from DOH XII, summarized modules 4 and 5 of the said training course. Lihao, also shared insights on the summary of module 6 as the last topic included.

To give her support, MNAO Maryam Gavillo, RN reminded and encouraged the participants to practice the learnings they had on the said training. According to her, Pikit Nutrition workers are now

capacitated to deliver quality service to their respective barangays.
