The National Nutrition Council Region XII conducted monitoring of Local Nutrition Early Warning System for Food and Nutrition Security at Kiamba, Sarangani Province last November 24, 2022.
LNEWS- FNS is a surveillance system that enables the community to respond rapidly to any threat, natural or man-made, that may impair food and nutrition security in the region, based on early warning information acquired from timely data gathering. DMO II Leah Fe Utlang, RND, supported by DMO II Flora May M. Madrona, led the aforementioned activity.
During the event, the following accords are reached:
- Re-organization of MNC and LNEWS-FNS core group to ensure sustainability of the program
- MNC Meeting must precede the Local Health Board Meeting, and not vice versa or combining the two meeting
- Nutrition Office must endorse the LNEWS-FNS and E-OPT data to the planning office for validation and analysis
- Planning office to drafts a policy mandating that all sectors provide data by the end of the first quarter of the year, including data on LNEWS-FNS
- Collected LNEWS data must be elevated and utilized at the municipal level, and disseminates to all core group members and the Mayor's office
Members of the LNEWS-FNS core group of the Municipality of Kiamba from several sectors, including agriculture, health, and planning, participated in the monitoring.
