LHEARN

SOCCSKSARGEN----The Municipality of Malungon, Sarangani, served as the official launchpad for the upcoming Learning Hub for Enhanced and Revitalized Nutrition (LHEARN) Project in Region 12. A two-day orientation activity was conducted held on December 20-21, 2022, at Kalonbarak Skyline ridge, Malungon, Sarangani. The said orientation focused on the project’s overarching goal, its establishment, related activities, and implementation, including its expansion and institutionalization. NO III Annalita Mae Flores, assisted by DMO II Danah Pearl Aurel, served as the facilitators in this first LHEARN session. The topic sessions were discussed by Ms. Queenie De Jesus of NIED via recorded message.

The LHEARN Project is a platform for building capacity that enables LGUs to share expertise and lessons learned in managing nutrition programs for better nutrition. The program is a component of the National Nutrition Council's (NNC) LGU Mobilization Strategy, which aims to advance the objectives and outcomes of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN).

To recall, Malungon was conferred with the prestigious Nutrition Honor Award in 2018, the highest honor given by the NNC to an LGU in recognition of its exceptional planning, management, and implementation of local nutrition initiatives.

The participants, who represented various offices and organizations headed by their MNAO,      Ms. Roselyn Constantino, were also able to draft their outputs. The LGU's best practices were documented by participants in Workshop 1, while Workshop 2 focused entirely on creating the LHEARN session. The team will meet for its subsequent session as they continue to polish their LHEARN sessions. Malungon LHEARN Team was also organized which is composed of Team Leader, LHEARN Course Coordinator, Pool of Session Facilitators, Resource persons and other partners.

MNAO Constantino, being the team leader, excitedly accepted the challenge and expressed full support and commitment for the project. She also believes that it is a great opportunity to showcase Malungon's best nutrition practices as well as a way to forge new partnerships as they move their mission to combat malnutrition forward.
