The National Nutrition Council (NNC) XII monitored the status of Local Nutrition Early Warning System toward Food and Nutrition Security (LNEWS-FNS) in Tampakan and Tboli, South Cotabato on January 26 and 31, respectively and February 1 in Kiamba, Sarangani. Participants in the monitoring includes Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (MNAOs), Nutrition Program Coordinators and HRH- Nutritionist Dietitian.

The activity's objective is to ensure the program's implementation and sustainability by discussing local issues and concerns relative to its activities, validating LNEWS-FNS results, identifying gaps, and determining the specific actions.

In addition to the monitoring activity, DMOII Utlang conducted a brief orientation on the mechanics, benefits, and the related activities of LNEWS-FNS to the newly designated MNAO of Kiamba, Sarangani.

DMOII Utlang provides updates and recommendations that will efficiently and effectively manage and implement LNEWS-FNS and its related activities to better understand the causes and the seasonality of malnutrition geared towards improvement of local nutrition situation.
