Several studies show that living a sedentary lifestyle poses numerous health risks and causes negative effects on your body. Typical office workers spend too much time sitting especially amidst pandemic where virtual platforms are being utilized to mitigate the spread of Covid-19, hence resulting as well in the adoption of sedentary lifestyle.
Prolonged sitting causes fluid retention, weight gain which may lead to obesity, swollen legs, aching feet, and non-communicable diseases particularly heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes (Type 2) and certain types of cancer. Further, it is also associated with pain in various parts of the body-- such as backpain and stiff neck.

The two Local Government Units (LGU) of Sarangani Province, particularly Malapatan and Maasim partnered with Corn Prawn and Goat (CPAG) Arkventures Enterprises on Supplementary Feeding Program for undernourished pre-school children. Hence, last June 4 and 10, 2021 was the launching and turn-over ceremony of dietary supplementation supplies for Malapatan and Maasim, respectively. It was participated by the Municipal Nutrition Action Officers and representatives from the local Health office and CPAG Arkventures Enterprises.

The Local Nutrition Early Warning System on Food and Nutrition Security (LNEWS-FNS) is a type or form of food security surveillance for detecting, at an early stage, an impending food crisis and to recognize “triggers” of alarm mechanisms. Further the main purpose of LNEWS- FNS is to enable the community to identify and address different problems whether natural or human –induced that affect the ability of a community and households to obtain sufficient food relative to their needs.

It is undeniable that Filipinos love celebrations, and aside from lots of food, alcoholic beverages are many times included in the celebration. A large percentage of the Filipino population consume alcoholic beverages on different occasions. And even during this pandemic, alcohol consumption still is an option, even just for casual drinking.
Although it is discouraged during this pandemic, it is not avoidable for some to have small gatherings. For this, it is best to provide nutritional tips and practices for those who engage in too much alcohol consumption to avoid and improve alcohol fatigue and their nutritional condition as well.

8 June 2021---The Local Nutrition Focal Points of SOCCSKSARGEN convened on a special virtual meeting for the updates on Nutrition Program. The said activity was attended by around 74 participants composed of Nutrition Action Officers, District/City/Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators and Nutritionist-Dietitians of DOH XII in the region.
The participants were welcomed by OIC-Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Ms. Annalita Flores, acknowledging as well their untiring efforts in providing the best nutrition services in their respective areas despite the challenges brought by the pandemic.

Nuts are simple dried fruits consisting of edible seed kernels in a hard, inedible outer shell that usually needs to be cracked to release the kernel inside. Common nuts consumed by many are almonds, cashews, chestnuts, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, peanuts, pecans, pili nuts, pistachios and walnuts. It can be eaten raw, roasted or steamed and can be enjoyed as a whole, nut butter, chopped or sprinkled on food.
