Jordan, Guimaras, a recipient of the 1st and 2nd year CROWN maintenance award, is thus qualified to vie for the NHA, the highest award given by NNC to outstanding achievers in nutrition program implementation.
NHA evaluation was conducted last April 12-15, 2016 spearheaded by A/Sec of Health Maria-Bernardita T. Flores CESO II, Executive Director IV of the National Nutrition Council together with Dr. Wilma A. Hurtada - Professor, UPLB-College of Human Ecology, Mr. Ariel D. Odtojan - Advocacy Specialist, World Vision Development Foundation Inc - PhilCAN member, Mr. Paquito R. Repelente - Administrative Assistant, DOH-Office of the Secretary (serve as photo documentor) and Ms. Jomarie L. Tongol - Nutrition Officer II of NNC Central Office.
The validation visit of the inter-agency National Evaluation Team aims to check whether the performance of Jordan in nutrition program management and delivery of nutrition services gained an outstanding improvement. The municipality has to reach a 98% score as basis to reach the much coveted award.
Three randomly selected barangays namely Lawi, Balcon Mellieza and Rizal were evaluated thru desk review, measuring the functionality of Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC), validation weighing of preschool children and site visitation of nutrition programs and projects in their areas. A few of their strategies, programs and projects are Nutri-Bakery and Veggie Bread, Pasyente Mo Sunduin ko, Jordan Nutrition and Production Center and Jordan Garbage Disposal Facility. The reduction in the prevalence of underweight among preschool and school children was also sustained.
