National Nutrition Council recognized the outstanding performers in nutrition programs during the National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony at Philippine International Convention Center last December 13, 2016.

Awardees from Region VI – Western Visayas include Numancia, Aklan which is one of the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Awardee and Mrs. Alejandra Igbacol who was one of the top 8 National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar who bested 42,000 other BNSes in the country.

Awardees, composed of the Local Nutrition Committee chaired by the Mayor and the Barangay Nutrition Scholars, from different regions all over the country flocked at PICC to receive their awards.

Special guests who graced the event were Cabinet Secretary Leoncio B. Evasco Jr., who represented President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Secretary of Health and Chair of NNC Governing Board Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial, Undersecretary Halmen Valdez of the Office of the Cabinet Secretary, NNC Governing Board Vice-Chair Agriculture Undersecretary Ranibai Dilangalen, Health Assistant Secretary Maria Francia Laxamana and NNC Deputy Executive Director Azucena Dayanghirang representing Assistant Secretary of Health and NNC Executive Director Maria-Bernardita Flores.

More than 600 participants from the LGUs, media, academe, NGOs and other stakeholders attended the said awarding ceremony.
