Iloilo – Cheques for the Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1000 Days (ECCD F1K), one of the priority programs of the National Nutrition Council (NNC), have been received by the different target areas in Iloilo.

The NNC targeted 10 provinces with the highest magnitude of poverty nationwide to be the recipients of the ECCD F1K. In Iloilo, there are 3 municipalities (Concepcion, Pototan and Tigbauan) and 1 city (Passi City) selected as target areas.

One of its aims is to reduce stunting, an indicator of chronic malnutrition. Women who are pregnant & lactating are also being targeted since the first 1000 days starts from conception. The funds will be utilized for home food production, mother’s classes/nutrition education classes and supportive supervision. The province will also be given with financial assistance to be utilized for local media support and supportive supervision.

Among the four (4) areas, three (3) have already received their cheques, Concepcion, Passi City and Tigbauan. The Municipality of Pototan is yet to receive their cheque.
