Capiz - The National Nutrition Council, Region VI conducted an orientation on the Dietary Supplementation Program (DSP) for Pregnant Women with health workers of the Municipality of President Roxas, August 20, 2019.

ECCD F1K PNC Gelaine Pet Trabado explained the guidelines on the implementation of the DSP for Pregnant Women which covers the level of calorie and protein supplementation, duration, frequency and mode of implementation, the preparatory and implementation phase, recording and reporting of data gathered, monitoring, organization and management and lastly the indicators of success of the program.

PNC Trabado also presented the background and importance of the ECCD F1K program, the RA 11148: "Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Mag-nanay" Act and taught them how to determine the nutritional status of a pregnant woman using the Magbitang Table and Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) tape.

Participants of the orientation were midwives and deployed DOH HRH while MHO/MNAO Pilar Posadas was also present to oversee the event. The orientation was held as the municipality of President Roxas will soon be conducting DSP for Pregnant Women in their barangays. President Roxas was one of the first LGUs in the Region to allocate funds for DSP for pregnant women.// AKJ
