The Nutrition School On the Air (NSOA) a nutrition promotion module developed by the National Nutrition Council to create public awareness, correct misconceptions and false beliefs, and adapt good nutrition practices is on air at Carles, Iloilo.
The Nutrition School On Air is a nutrition-specific program that promotes behavior change through radio, ensuring that correct and proper information on nutrition is disseminated to all. The module covers the talking points of 10 Kumainments translated to Hiligaynon by NNC-Region VI in 2017.
The first session of NSOA was aired on Radyo Timbo-ok DYTC 92.1 FM last June 18, 2020. The program has registered a total of 40 Official Enrollees. As an incentive to the participants, the first three texters to give the correct answer to the questions given in-between discussions get a fifty pesos cellphone load and Nutrition Hour Face Mask every session.
The airing of the NSOA foresees the increase in households reached by the promotion of good nutrition as a guide in providing appropriate nutrition care for the infants and young children, the adolescent girls and pregnant women as well as all the other age groups in the society for better nutrition and health. Thus, it contributes to better nutrition of mothers and young children to prevent the onset of undernutrition in early childhood i.e., reducing the prevalence of stunting among children in Western Visayas.
