Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) from all over the country participated in the 6th National Conference of Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) through a 4-part webinar series scheduled October 1, 8, 15, & 22 October 2020.

The conference aimed to mobilize the NAOs to operationalize the PPAN 2017-2022 in their respective local government units. The participants also shared good practices on nutrition program implementation got updates on the latest nutrition-related policies and programs; and were provided a platform for the conduct of the Nutrition Action Officers Association of the Philippines, Inc. general assembly. The attendees earned the licensed professional Continuing Professional Education units for the renewal of their PRC Ids.

The NAOs are local workers who coordinate local nutrition programs under the leadership of the mayors with the support and participation of the other members of the local nutrition committees.

In 2009, the NNC mounted the first national conference of NAOs, with the theme: “One Nutrition, One Nation,” held at the SMX, Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City. It was during that event that the NAOPA, Inc. was organized.

Since then, the NNC with the NAOPA, Inc., has continuously capacitated the NAOs with updates and development on nutrition policies, strategies and programs, through a biennial national conference. In 2012, the 2nd national conference was at PICC, Manila, with the theme “Now na NAOPA,” then in 2014, at the SMX Convention Center,all of Asia, with the theme: “I need you NAO and Forever”; 2016 at the Waterfront Hotel, Cebu City, with the theme “PPAN: NAOs Make it Happen”; and, 2018 at SMX Convention Center, Davao, with the theme: Stronger NAO for PPAN”.
