Local government units can now perk up in formulating and implementing their Local Nutrition Action Plans with the approval of a resolution passed by the Regional Nutrition Committee.

Ms. Sheryl Sedantes, Nutrition Officer III and NNC VI Officer-in-Charge said the Social Development Committee approved the RNC Resolution No. 001 series of 2020 “Supporting NNC Activities for the Formulation,Approval, and Integration of local Nutrition Action Plan as a Strategy of LGU Mobilization in Support to PPAN 2017-2022”.

The pillars of Nutrition Program Implementation in the Region - RNC Chair Dr. Marlyn Convocar and RNPC Nona B. Tad-y were the people behind the resolution.

The resolution was approved by the SDC Members during its 4th Quarter Meeting via Zoom last December 1, 2020.

According to Sedantes, the resolution aims to address the recurring issues on the prompt formulation of Local Nutrition Action Plans with sufficient budgets and the hiring of additional manpower to handle nutrition programs at the local level.
