NNC VI OIC Sedantes was among those chosen to participate in a study on stunting and its determinants in the Philippines conducted by the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS).
PIDS is conducting research entitled “Identifying and Addressing the Determinants of Stunting in the First 1000 Days” that aims to determine the drivers of stunting and examine whether current strategies and investments are directed towards cost-effective interventions.
The study was commissioned by the Department of Health, the National Nutrition Council (NNC), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Sedantes was chosen to take part in this research because she and her unit plays a direct role in the financing and delivery of health and nutrition programs in the locality.
Part of the study is a process evaluation of the implementation of nutrition programs of relevant national and local governments.
Likewise, data for this study are also being collected in other selected provinces, cities, municipalities and barangays across the country.
The answers of the key informants will greatly help policymakers, budget and health officers, and researchers develop policies and interventions that may improve health services and the health of Filipino people.
