National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region VI joins Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2013 last Sunday, January 27. This annual festivity become an integral part to all Ilonggos and being part of it boosts the pride of all its revelers. For the first time, NNC took part on this event supporting Tribu Ilonganon, one of the competing tribe during the Ati-ati Competition who won first runner up.
As one of the sponsoring group, NNC partakes on the parade following the route for four judging areas around Iloilo City. Given the chance to be part of this prestigious event, NNC seized the opportunity to wield its name with logos and nutrition messages (e.g. Eat variety of foods everyday, Avoid Alcoholic Beverages, Wastong Nutrisyon: Alamin, Gawin at Palaganapin, and “’Wag Matakot, Maki-gulay!!!”) printed on tarps while on the parade. A perfect time to impart awareness about the agency and its advocacy.
This Dinagyang Festival became the first round event that NNC will go through with to widen the knowledge on the vision, mission, and goals of the agency among all Ilongos in the region. As part of Local Media Plans for 2013, NNC in partnership with Western Visayas Nutri-Media Circle (WVNMC) will participate in all festivals and occasions. With massive number of people gather in every event, captures big chance of exposure for NNC to uphold its advocacy with the big help of tri-media. Signage, tarpaulins, streamers, leaflets and other collateral materials will be used as tools in the promotion of good nutrition while being part of the festivities. Taking part the role of NNC with fun and enjoyment at a time during special event like Dinagyang Festival is one way of making people more aware of what nutrition is for.
