BNS

Annually the National Nutrition Council provides financial assistance (traveling allowances, medical and survivorship) to the unsung heroes of the community- the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS). This is to recognize and appreciate their hard work and efforts towards the improvement and betterment of the nutrition situation in the barangays and the people in the community.

BNS receives a modest yearly traveling allowance amounting to P 1,200.00 each. In addition, the NNC provides medical assistance amounting to Php 5,000 to BNS who were hospitalized or succumb to illnesses. However, as per NNC guidelines, a BNS who gave birth is not covered for medical assistance.  And, survivorship assistance for the families of a deceased BNS regardless of the cause of death and the place of death, worth Php 20,000 for the burial expenses.
