NutriSkwela

An Ocular Visit was conducted to Nutriskwela Radio Stations, namely Radyo Kaabyanan 88.5 FM and Radyo Kaimaw. During the monitoring, the staffs shared that the Radio stations were used to disseminate information regarding COVID-19.

 

Radyo Kaabyanan - NNC Region VI RNPC Reginaldo T. Guillen and NO I Romela Dee Candoliza had a courtesy call to Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo, PHO II, and Dr. Leoncio Q. Abierra, Jr. Medical Specialist prior to the ocular visit to the Kaabyanan radio station on 14 June 2021 in Sibalom, Antique.During the monitoring, the station Manager shared that the station has an innovative nutrition program called "Batang 1000" where the radio station staff visits different barangays every month and identifies pregnant women. The beneficiaries are entitled to receive (1) radio and one (1) sack of rice. Radyo Kaabyanan was established on September 5, 2021, by the National Nutrition Council with the counterpart support of the Municipal Government of Sibalom under Phase V of the Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program. This is one of their initiatives in alleviating all forms of malnutrition in the municipality.

Radyo Kaimaw - the First Community Radio Network in Region VI - Radyo Kaimaw

A monitoring of Radyo Kaimaw, a Nutriskwela Radio Station was conducted on 15 June 2021. Hon. Ella Bucoy, SB on Health and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer of Pandan, Antique welcomed RNPC Guillen and NO I Candoliza. During the interview, RNPC Guillen inferred that the nutrition program in the municipality should include support for the radio station. The NNC Regional Office shared the DILG Memorandum Circulars No. 2019-001 and 2018-42 as reference for ensuring integration of nutrition programs in the AIP that can include budgetary allocation in support of the radio station. The Radio Station aims to disseminate correct, current, and relevant nutrition and health information, as well as educational and developmental information from all concerned sectors of the community, government, and non-government agencies to the public.

National Nutrition Council Region VI lauds the efforts of both radio stations as they take part in the COVID—19 response.
