Local Nutrition Early Warning System for Food and Nutrition Security (LNEWS-FNS) Meeting Cum Program Implementation Review.

 The meeting was presided by Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Reginaldo T. Guillen, with staff assistance from NO III Sheryl Sedantes, NO I Romela Dee Condoliza, NO I Nelin Jean Emboltura, NO I Roselle Eve Ferrer, Iloilo ECCD-F1K PNC Heda Suing and Negros Occidental ECCD-F1K PNC Joyce Faith Española. Participants are from LNEWS-FNS Areas: Bago City, La Carlota City, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, and Passi City, Iloilo. Areas that were originally supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN-FAO). Areas from Aklan (Ibajay, Malinao, and Tangalan) and Capiz (Dao, Dumarao, Tapaz, and Ivisan).

The agenda of the meeting were as follows: (1) Brief background on LNEWS-FNS, (2) How does it operate, (3) Importance of LNEWS-FNS, (4) Review of the 2019 PIR Agreements, (5) Status and Updates on the implementation of LNEWS-FNS.

RNPC Guillen emphasized optimizing LNEWS-FNS results in helping the community identify the causes of malnutrition and vulnerable groups. He inquired to the participant LGUs about the integration of LNEWS-FNS in their Local Nutrition Action Plan, budget allocation for nutrition as well as the existence of resolutions/ executive orders adopting LNEWS-FNS at the local level.
