ro6 PCMNAOILOILO CITY- The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region VI conducts Provincial/City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (P/C/MNAOs) Consultative meetings.

The meeting aims to: (1) provide updates on the current Nutrition Situation and Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) Programs and Projects and other initiatives in the region, (2) familiarize and appreciate the roles and functions of NAOs, (3) develop teamwork and fellowship among NAOs, and (4) organize the NAOs as a group.

The first NAOs meeting was in the Province of Aklan held last 29 April 2013 at Kalibo, Aklan. It was followed by convening NAOs in the Provinces of Antique and Guimaras on May 3 and for the Province of Capiz on May 7 both held at Sarabia Manor Hotel, Iloilo City. The NAOs in the Province of Negros Occidental met on May 9 at Bacolod Pavillion Hotel.

The Nutrition Situation Update Report 2013 was presented to call the attention of NAOs on nutrition situation in their respective areas. Clarification of the roles of NAOs in implementing nutrition programs was emphasized.

The initial meetings and consultation with NAOs showed good impression to NAOs because there was an exchange of ideas with them to address issues and concerns in relation to their work. It is hoped that the consultative meetings be done on a regular basis.

NNC Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Nona B. Tad-y said that after election 2013, new sets of Local Chief Executives will be guided accordingly with the nutrition and programs and projects in the region with the NAOs taking the lead role.
