Representatives from various Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) with nutrition and related services and programs in the region pledged their support to Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) as they joined the forum conducted last December 1, 2014 at Eon Centennial Plaza Hotel. Participants from NGO’s are World Vision, AbanteAklan, Palanan-awonPangkauswagansa Antique (PPSA), Seeds for Children of the Philippines, Zarraga Multi, Purpose Cooperative.Nutrition partners also participated the said event and present were Regional Nutrition Technical Committee’s, Provincial/City Nutrition Action Officer's, District/City Nutrition Program Coordinator's, Municipal Nutrition Action Officers Fed. President, BNSs Fed.President.
The conduct of NGO Forum aims to (a) describe the country’s current nutrition situation and the key directions of the Updated Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2014-2016; (b) share their experiences in implementing nutrition and related programs and projects along the Updated PPAN’s directions; (c) identify commitments for the operationalization of the Updated PPAN 2014-2016 and mechanism to firm up theses commitments; and (d) identify mechanism to strengthen GO-NGO partnership for nutrition action.
Issues and concerns were noted during the open forum and were given recommended actions to address it. A "By-table workshop" on the identification and commitments/ investments per NGO to cover what the NGO can commit, how the commitment will be firmed up, and suggested mechanism for strengthening GO-NGO partnership for nutrition actionwas alsoconducted.
By the end of the day, NGOs have their names signed on the pledge of commitment tarpaulin. They also gave their word to be permanent members/partners of NNC, RVI to support the promotion of good nutrition in the region.
