DSWD incorporated Salt Iodization in the CapDev Activities

The SFP Focal Persons, Child Development Worker (CDW) Presidents, and representatives in Western Visayas were gathered at District 21 Hotel, Mandurriao, Iloilo City as the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VI (DSWD FO-VI) conducted a Capability Building Cum Updating on the 12th Cycle Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) Implementation.

This is to capacitate the participants towards DSWD's venture for the smooth implementation of the Supplementary Feeding Program. RNPC Reginaldo T. Guillen, NOIII Sheryl C. Sedantes, NOI Romela Dee Candoliza, NOI Nelin Jean Emboltura, NOI Roselle Eve Ferrer, and PNFP Heda V. Suing from NNC Region VI served a resource person in eight different batches to discuss the Salt Iodization Law:

May 23 - Aklan

May 26 - Capiz

May 30 - Iloilo City, 1st & 2nd District of Iloilo

June 2 - Guimaras & 5th District of Iloilo

June 6 - 3rd & 4th District of Iloilo

June 9 - 1st, 4th & 5th District of Negros Occidental

June 13 - Bacolod City, 2nd, 3rd & 6th District of Negros Occidental

June 15 – Antique

The Asin Law or RA 8172 β€œAn Act for Salt Iodization Nationwide (ASIN)” requires the local government units (LGUs), through their health officers and nutritionists/dietitians, or in their absence through their sanitary inspectors, to check and monitor the quality of food-grade salt being sold in their market to ascertain that such salt is properly iodized.
