Jagna MNC receives their Green Banner at 2013 GNACebu City – After cutting the malnutrition rate from 1.79% in 2011 to 1.55% in 2012, Jagna, Bohol was awarded as Outstanding Municipality in the Region during the Grand Nutrition Awards 2013 held on 02 August 2013 at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, Cebu City. The municipality was also awarded the Outstanding Municipality in the Province of Bohol.

Having been awarded Outstanding Municipality for three consecutive times, Jagna  was conferred the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Awardee.  Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla together the Municipal Nutrition Committee members, Municipal Action Officer Ms. Anecita G. Ocmeja and Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Elizabeth S. Sajulga  received the plaques of recognition and the Green Banners.

Aiming to reduce the malnutrition rate in the municipality every year, the Municipality of Jagna has initiated and continued programs and projects to achieve this goal. The Municipality of Jagna through the Municipal Nutrition Council has embarked on a vigorous campaign to eradicate malnutrition. Their campaigns include: The Purok Center Empowerment that is implemented in the 33 barangays. The program aims to ensure food security in the puroks with components like FAITH (Food Always In The Home), HOPE (Herbal-Ornamental Plant Enhancement) and CHARITY (Chicken Always in the Yard).

The local government unit of Jagna consistently campaigned for the NutriMix production which provides income to the council as well as provide cheap food supplement to children. The BNC and DepEd Garden campaign garnered Provincial Gardening Winners.

Consistently disseminating nutrition information, the local government unit has been airing the Nutrition on Air, a weekly nutrition program broadcast live over the LGU radio station, DYJP.

Other advocacies are the Farmers Field School on Rice Technology and Ubi Production, a program that helps the farmers on increasing their yield, Daily Feeding using Manna Pack from partner NGO Philos Health that complements the LGUs feeding activities and Tilapia Culture in Upland Barangays which helps in ensuring food security.
