NM 2013 Anti-Hunger CaravanCebu City – In celebrating its 39th year, Nutrition Month  marked with the theme -- "Gutom at malnutrisyon, sama-sama nating wakasan!" (Hunger and malnutrition, let us end it together!), its launch activity is an anti-hunger caravan held last July 01, 2013. Around 22 vehicles participated in the caravan which started at the Brgy. Mambaling Sports Complex, Cebu City.

A short program was done at the Brgy. Mambaling Sports Complex before it kicked off. Among those who participated were beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya Program.  Resources speakers talked about hunger mitigation programs. Among them were Ms. Cheryl M. de la Victoria, IO III of DA 7 who talked about the National Year of the Rice, followed by, Ms. Melinda D. Cañares, ND III of DSWD 7 who discussed the Supplementary Feeding and the Pantawid Pamilya Program. Additionally, Mr. Jose T. Marmol, Planning Officer of TESDA 7 delved on the Technical-Vocational Training Program of TESDA 7 and Mr. Celso Lumaad of Feed the Children spoke the organization's activities in curbing hunger.

Around 300 Pantawid Beneficiaries were present during the program. Most of them were thankful that they were included in the program and that it helped in improving their lives. After the program, the caravan proceeded and passed along N. Bacalso Avenue to P. del Rosario Street to Imus Avenue to M. J. Cuenco Avenue to General Maxilom Avenue to Gorordo Avenue to Ayala Avenue to Cardinal Rosales Avenue to Mindanao Avenue then to the Ayala Terraces where the Launching Program took place.

Government organizations, non-government organizations and civic groups that joined in the Anti-Hunger Caravan were  RNC member agencies (DOH, DA, DSWD, DepEd, DILG, PopCom, Cebu Province), SAMCH, CDUH-CN, USC - CN NDAP, PAN, Cebu City Agriculture Office, Cebu City Health Department, Barangay Sambag 1, Barangay Sambay 2 , Barangay Mambaling, Barangay Busay, Cebu City Nutrition Committee, and the Mandaue City Nutrition Committee. Adding color to caravan was the DBC provided by Abellana National School and Mascots from Julies Bakeshop and Salinas Foods, Inc. //DFB
