Tagbilaran City, Bohol -Nutrition Coordinators broke barriers in nutrition as they held their first regional congress last October 12, 2012 at JJ's Seafood Village in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. Municipal, city and district nutrition program coordinators from Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Siquijor met for a one day caucus to map out strategies in breaking pressing issues that impede full scale implementation of nutrition in 2013.
Dignitaries present were the Executive Assistant to the Governor, Mr. Isabelo Tongco who gave an Inspirational Message. Mr. Tongco represented Governor Edgar M. Chatto who couldn’t attend the event. Dr. Apollo John O. Bernaldez, OIC – City Health Officer of Tagbilaran City gave the Welcome Address.
NNC 7’s Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Dr. Parolita A. Mission gave the Keynote Address where she recognized the importance of nutrition coordinators and the critical role they play in the nutrition program. Elaborating on the theme “Nutrition Coordinators: Breaking Barriers for Improved Nutrition”, she discussed the blocks impeding the achievement of nutrition targets and the strategies to address these barriers.
