Cebu City – Sensitivity to nutrition comes with being child-friendly. National Nutrition Council Region VII NO II Susan Y. Orpilla, RND presented the NNC 7 2012 Agency Accomplishment report and the proposed 2013 agency priority agenda and work and financial plan for children during the First Quarter Meeting of the Regional Sub-Committee for the Council for the Welfare of Children. The caucus was held at the Conference Room of DSWD Field Office VII, Cebu City last April 10, 2013.
The Council for the Welfare of Children was created through Presidential Decree 603, otherwise known as the Child and Youth Welfare Code. The committee is a government inter-departmental body mandated to monitor and evaluate the implementation of policies, programs and services relative to the welfare and protection of children.
A presidential award for the child friendly local government units is being considered this year by way of recognizing cities, municipalities and provinces that promote, protect and promulgate the welfare of children. NNC 7 is joining the monitoring and visits to LGUs vying for the award. // DFB
