Valencia, Negros Oriental Province – Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (MNAOs) in Negros Oriental held their first quarter meeting last March 15, 2013 at Forest Camp, Negros Oriental. Negros Oriental Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, Dr. Edgardo S. Barredo presided the meeting before 40 MNAOs together with representatives and members of the Provincial Nutrition Committee. Among those present representatives from the local government units of Amlan, Bacong, Basay, Bindoy, Dauin, Manjuyod, Siaton, Valencia, Zamboanguita.
Dr. Parolita A. Mission, RNPC of NNC 7 gave a run - down of the activities embodied in the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2011-2016. Also discussed were the Nutrition Situation of the Province of Negros Oriental (2011 OPT Results & 2011 NNS Updating), Status of Nutrition Human Resources in the Province, Promote Good Nutrition (Remaining Barangay-level Training and Refresher on IYCF Counselling and Community Support with Gender Concerns), Updates on the WHO-Child Growth Standards, Local MELLPI and Status of Local Nutrition Committees.
The quarterly meeting is done to provide direction and technical assistance to local nutrition program managers and implementers, address issues and concerns along local level implementation, and monitor the accomplishments of the different municipal local government units.
