Canlaon City – It was not meant to be "pun." The hosting by Canlaon City of the Third Regional Management Conference was to bring the theme close to home. Canlaon is reputed to be “The Vegetable Basket of Region 7”. Slated on the 11th to 13thof September, some twenty five Provincial/City Nutrition Action Officers and District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators of Region VII gather at the Canlaon Pension House, Canlaon City.
The conference takes up the Regional Nutrition Strategic Plan 2012-2016, 1st semester PPAN Accomplishment Report, Highlights of the Nutrition Month 2012 LGU Celebrations, 8th Regional NAO Congress, Updates on the Salt Iodization Program, Status of the 2012 Operation Timbang by Province and City and the upcoming events like 1st Regional Congress of Nutrition Coordinators, 8th Regional BNS Congress and National Conference of BNS. NPC Parolita A. Mission leads the conference. NO III Susan Y. Orpilla, NO II Dave F. Bargamento and NO I Nasudi G. Soluta provide the technical updates. Dovetailed in this conference is a lecture on “Putting Gender Perspective in Nutrition Program” with Dr. Andrea G. Soluta of Silliman University Gender Studies Center as resource speaker.
This quarterly Regional Management Conference is done to update and enhance capacities of Nutrition Action Officers in managing nutrition program in their respective LGUs. The conference also serves to address operational and organizational concerns more extensively. // DFB
