Cebu City - The Technical Working Group of the Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC-TWG) mapped out actions for nutrition for 2013 and affirm their commitment for improved nutrition in Central Visayas. The group convened on 22 – 23 January 2013 at the Aguinaldo Hall, Cebu Grand Hotel, Escario Street, Cebu City for the 1st Quarter RNC – TWG Meeting. The meeting primarily tackled the 2013 Regional Nutrition Action Plan, Regional Nutrition Committee work plan for 2013 and drafting of the 2013 RNC Resolutions.
These documents will be presented to RNC for approval during the 1st RNC Full Committee to be held on 28 February 2013. Before these plans were formulated, the 2012 RNC accomplishments and the Central Visayas Nutrition Strategic Plan 2012-2016 were reviewed.
Also discussed during the meeting were the 39th Nutrition Month Celebration, the MELLPI 2013, monitoring outside MELPPI season, functionality of local nutrition committees and the technical assistance to be given to priority local government units in the region. The new GB-approved Ten Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos were also shared during the said forum.

Mantalaba of DILG 7, Ms. Julieta G. Tutor of DOH-CHD 7, Ms. Josie F. Elli of DOST 7, Ms. Ma. Sostheleen C. Padilla of NEDA 7, Ms. Regina L. Salvador of POPCOM 7, Ms. Florita G. Olandria of Mandaue City, Ms. Julieta B. Mangliguez of Bohol Province & NPCAR 7, Mr. Celso M. Lumaad of FTC Philippines, Ms. Evangeline B. Geraldez of NDAP-Cebu Chapter and Ms. Lovelyn N. Garcia of PAN-Cebu Chapter. NNC 7 Nutrition Program Coordinator, Dr. Parolita A. Mission and NNC 7 technical staff: Ms. Susan Y. Orpilla, Mr. Dave F. Bargamento and Ms. Nasudi G. Soluta provided the technical input. The TWG is the technical arm of the Regional Nutrition Committee, the highest policy making and coordinating body on nutrition in the region.
The attendance and active participation of the RNC – TWG members affirms the dedication and the support of the different RNC member agencies to nutrition and ultimately in improving the nutrition status of the people of Central Visayas. //DFB
