Cebu City – The Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars’ Association of Region 7 (FeBaNuSA 7), the regional association of BNS in Region 7 had its first ever self-assessment as it prepare for the 2012 activities, the year of the water dragon. The activity was done last December 19, 2011 at the Ocean Pearl, Mactan, Lapu-lapu City. This was attended by the presidents of BNS provincial federations and BNS City associations representing the provinces and cities of Region VII specifically the provinces of Cebu and Siquijor and cities of Bayawan Bogo, Carcar Canlaon, Danao, Lapu-lapu, Mandaue and Naga.

Using the technology of participation, the attendees identified their individual and collective strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Mini workshops were done to assess the activities implemented the previous year, recognized the highs and lows, determined the factors that contributed in making the events successful and factors that hindered the positive implementation of planned actions. Basing on the assessment, they mapped out programs, projects and activities for the whole year, determined key result areas and monitoring mechanism. The activity was facilitated by NPC Parolita A. Mission along with NO III Susan Y. Orpilla and NO I Circee C. Monte de Ramos.

The officers also identified other forms of support they can provide to the general membership and possible funding windows for the assistance. Organized in 2004 and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2008, the Federation is providing Php 5,000.00 mortuary aid and Php 2,000.00 hospitalization benefit to registered members.

As they prepare for CY 2012, they are determined to level up this year’s implementation as year of the water dragon brings in prosperity and good fortune to the regional federation. //DFB
