The good nutrition projects/practices implemented by the LGUS were given credit in contributing to improving the nutrition status of the children and the family. The following LGUs were recognized:

ayawan City’s LAKASS: X Factor for Nutrition Improvement Program which provided a clear, suitable and workable framework for malnutrition management and which as been a big part in reducing the city’s malnutrition rate of 10.54% in 2010 to 8.95 in 2011% in 2011.


Canlaon City’s Nutrition Awareness and Advocacy thru the Nutri-Village transformed an old barren playground into the vibrantly colored nutrition melting pot of Negros’ Vegetable Capital. It has also become the center of all nutrition education and advocacy activities in the city.

 

Cebu City’s Pabasa sa Nutrisyon: A Sustainable NutriEd Program, a community based approach that provides nutrition information to mothers and/or caregivers. This has been implemented by the Cebu City Government through the City Nutrition Council since 2008. Last 10 July 2012, the Cebu City Government was awarded with the well-deserved PSN Hall of Fame Award for this exemplary effort.

Dumaguete City’s World-Class Low-Cost Septage Management System has minimized the adverse effects of wastewater to public health and has reduced the deteriorative impact of wastewater on the environment.

 

Mandaue City’s Kaabag sa Nutrisyon: A Public and Private Partnership for Maternal and Child Nutrition, a partnership with private establishments and the community which sought to accomplish long term solutions to nutrition challenges and goal achievements.


Lapu-Lapu City’s Kababayen an sa Gun-Ob Producers Cooperative, helped women to acquire livelihood opportunities, thereby support the family income. The target members of the project are jobless women, mothers of malnourished children and urban poor residents which is has now expanded to adjacent barangays of the city.


And, Cebu Province’s eGWEN Our Cebu Our Pride: expanded Green and Wholesome Environment that Nurtures Program whose ultimate goal of rebuilding each town in the province of Cebu by putting into play the dimensions of sustainable development --- with environment as its main point of entry--- to achieve a vibrant, progressive and self-reliant community with the inclusion of creating a conducive and supportive environment that promotes the total well-being of man.


All these projects and practices helped in addressing the hunger situation in the region and reducing the incidence of malnutrition and ultimately improving the lives of the people of Region 7. // DFB
