Cebu City –A Formal Turn-over of the Chairmanship of the Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee was held on March 30, 2012 at the Board Room A, Club Ultima, Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City in time for the 1st RNC Full Committee Meeting s 2012. A golden key and NNC banner were used during the turn-over rites to symbolize the change of leadership from the Outgoing chair & CHD 7 Dir. Susana K. Madarieta to Incoming Chair & CHD 7 Dir. Asuncion M. Anden.
Before the turn-over rites, NPC Parolita A. Mission presented the CV RNC accomplishments for the period 2006 – 2011 under the incumbency of RNC Chair Madarieta which focused on the performance of RNC based on its 5 major functions. She capped her report presenting the prevalence of malnutrition in the region which showed a reduction of malnutrition (based on the OPT data) from 9.78% in 2006 to 5.45% in 2011, the impact of all the program, projects and activities of RNC, its member agencies and LGUs in the region.
In her valedictory address, Dir. Madarieta acknowledged the dynamism and outstanding performance of the RNC Secretariat (NNC 7), RNC-TWG and the support of RNC - member agencies. In her acceptance speech, Dir. Anden congratulated NNC 7 and RNC 7 for its performance. She mentioned that she was overwhelmed by the performance of CV RNC and expressed her apprehension of not filling the shoes vacated by the former Chair. She pointed out that her priorities for RNC in the next two years under her stewardship would be breastfeeding in the workplace and increased vegetable consumption.
The turn-over rites concluded with the presentation of a plaque of appreciation signed by Assistant Secretary Maria-Bernardita T. Flores to the Outgoing RNC Chair Susana K. Madarieta in grateful recognition for her competent leadership, laudable support, encouragement and significant contribution in the implementation of the Nutrition Program in Region VII as Chairperson of the RNC for CY 2006-2011. The affair was attended by RNC member agencies from DOH 7, DA 7, DSWD 7, DepEd 7, PopCom 7, Feed the Children Philippines, Rotary International District 3860, PHO of Cebu Province and CHO of Mandaue City. //DFB
