Tubigon, Bohol – Central Visayas’ contender for 2nd Year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Maintenance Award is Tubigon, Bohol. The honour will be given if the municipality can achieve a minimum score of 95% of its 2011 performance. Tubigon won the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) in 2010 after the three (3) Green Banners for 2009, 2008 and 2007. The municipality was able to maintain its fete in 2011 and given the 1st Year CROWN Maintenance Award after garnering 90% score for its continued and intensified efforts to improve the nutrition situation of Tubignons through effective management of their local nutrition program.
The National Evaluation Team headed by Ms. Hygiea Ceres C. Gawe, NO IV and OIC of NSD, NNC with team members Mr. Clark Niel E. Apuntar, Planning Officer of Council for the Welfare of Children, Ms. Janice Datu-Sanguyo, Senior Economic Development Specialist of NEDA and Ms. Liezl M. Atienza, Assistant Professor, IHNF – CHE, UPLB, evaluated the municipality of Tubigon on April 17 to 20, 2012.
Barangays visited during the evaluation included the upland barangay of Buenos Aires, the lowland barangay of Pinayagan Sur, the island barangay of Batasan, the coastal barangay of Tinangnan and the municipality capital, Barangay Centro. The team met and interviewed the Chair and members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee and Barangay Nutrition Committee of randomly selected barangays, validated the nutritional status by reweighing 10% of the total preschool children in each barangay visited, looked into the different project initiated by the municipality and did a desk review of the records which includes the targets and the accomplishments.
