Cebu - The Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Implemetation (MELLPI) is an Annual activitiy done by NNC 7 to evaluate the implementation of the nutrition program in the municipalities, cities and provinces within Region 7.
To improve the quality of the evaluation and to have an in-depth evaluation, NNC 7 together with the Regional Evaluation Team, organized 3 teams to visit different areas for a week.
The Regional Evaluation Team is composed of men and women from the RNC-TWG member agencies and organizations who are partners of NNC 7.
The following are the members of the Regional Evaluation Team: Ms. Juliet G. Tutor of DOH-CHD 7, Mr. Michael O. Pacios and Ms. Regina G. Salvador and Mr. Leo S. Fernandes of PopCom 7, Ms. Cheryl M. De la Victoria and Ms. Susan G. Kintanar of DA 7, Ms. Melinda Cañares of DSWD 7, Ms. Joy V. Mantalaba of DILG 7, Ms. Evageline B. Geraldez of Miller Sanitarium and Hospital, Ms. Delia E. Serion of Seamen's Hospital, Ms. Purivic Y. Paras of Dumaguete City, Ms. Emmalyn T. delos Santos of Tanjay City.
The Regional MELLPI started last May 7 and will continue until June 28. To give ample time for the city evaluations, cities are alloted 2 days while the provinces are alloted a weeks time.
Activities done during these visits include courtesy call to the mayor/governor and P/C/MNC briefing, review and analysis of the records, visit of 3-5 sample barangays, interview with brgy. captain and nutrition committee members and validation weighing.
MELLPI aims to assess the effeciency of the local level plan implementation. It also aims to assess changes in nutritional status of preschool & school children, determine extent to which nutrition is integrated into the local development plan and it is also an avenue to advocate for the continuing support for local nutrition program
Additionally, the Search for the National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (NOBNS) is also done in conjunction with the visits.
The search for the NOBNS aims to assess the performance of BNSs in terms of their contribution to nutrition program implementation in the barangays and to identify the strengths & weaknesses of the performance of BNSs.
The annual MELLPI is a step in ensuring the nutritional well-being of the denizens of Region 7. // DFB
