Cebu City – Aligning government and non-government efforts in the First 1000 days, the National Nutrition Council 7 partnered with Engender Health – Visayas Health Project to hold the 5th Central Visayas NGO Forum on 10 November 2015 at the Golden Prince Hotel, Cebu City.
Focused on identifying possible nutrition and nutrition-sensitive endeavors, the forum themed “”Right Nutrition in the First 1000 Days: Moving forward for a healthier and prosperous future” ended with a signed commitment from the attendees to support the movement.
Acknowledging the importance of a good partnership between government and non-government efforts to stunt the growth of malnutrition in Central Visayas by the best possible way there is: PREVENTION.
With technical sessions to set the mood of the forum covering the region’s nutrition situation, an introduction to the First 1000 days, and nutrition and nutrition sensitive interventions, all thirty-two participants representing 19 NGOs in the region were well tuned for the panel discussion that followed and were sympathetic to the reactors from both the government and non-government side of the 1000 day fence.
Going home challenged and eager to support the program, all the attendees have expressed their commitment both in nutrition and nutrition-sensitive interventions, along with a promise to partner with each other and with NNC 7 in their efforts.
