Cebu City – Despite having exposed to the regional nutrition programs during the quarterly meetings, participated in the regional nutrition events (Nutrition Month, Breastfeeding Month) and their assistance during the LGU monitoring activities (MELLPI, PGN, Monitoring Outside MELLPI season), it finally came the time to formally introduce the group to the nutrition program management principles.


Thanks to the Department of Social Welfare and Development 7, chair to the technical working group, funding the training, members old and new were reacquainted to the nutrition program. The activity was held at the Golden Prince Hotel, Cebu City on 18-19 November 2015,

The idea of the training came about as a result of some of the RNC-TWG member’s appeal for a capability building activity to not only help them provide technical assistance in the field but to better understand their roles and responsibilities esp. for the new members as part of the Regional Nutrition Committee. In the past, NNC 7 has invited members of the committee to attend the 5-day NPM for local nutrition committees, however there has always been schedule glitch.

With that in mind, NNC 7 crafted a shortened version of the training tailor fit for members of the regional nutrition committee from the original NPM training module. This enabled a shortened, condensed, and RNC-TWG friendly activity schedule apt into two days.

NNC 7 and its RNC-TWG hope that though this activity, the regional nutrition committee members will be able to embody the principles of excellent nutrition program management to serve as model for its local nutrition committees.//NGS
