NNC 7 Deployment of NDPsCebu City – Nutrition is an important social development concern that needs to be integrated in all development plans of the local government units as well as the sectoral plans and programs of national government agencies.

Recognizing the need to have additional personnel who will ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the implementation of different health and nutrition programs as embodied in the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) at the provincial level, the Department of Health through its Regional Director and at the same time Chairperson of the Regional Nutrition Committee, Dir. Jaime S. Bernadas had provided supplementary human resources under the Nurse Deployment Project (NDP) of the Human Resources for Health Development Program.

Five (5) nurses were assigned to the National Nutrition Council Region VII who will specifically be detailed in the three provinces of Central Visayas with one (1) staff detailed in Bohol, two (2) in Cebu, (1) in Siquijor province and one (1) in the regional office. These nurses will perform as nutrition officers to augment the needed human resource of each provinces for the PPAN implementation.

Included in the functions of the detailed nurses is to assist the Provincial Nutrition Action Officers in ensuring that the nutrition program is running in the province, provide technical assistance to identified municipalities, ensure the conduct of quality Operation Timbang Plus and provide technical assistance in the analysis of data, help in the conduct of provincial and regional Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) and BNS Evaluation and perform other nutrition program activities.

To date, these five personnel had already started performing their assigned tasks after being trained on Nutrition Program Management. ///NVS
