Ubay, Bohol – Spearheaded by the Department of Health 7, the National Nutrition Council 7 joined the High Impact 5 (HI-5) Caravan in Ubay Central Gymnasium, Ubay Bohol on 08 February 2016.
The program aims to bridge the gap and reduce barriers to access health care, minimize social exclusion and work towards universal coverage of delivering health services to Filipinos. Hundreds of recipient availed of the health fair and services offered during the said event focusing on women and their children, men, youth, and senior citizens.
More than a hundred participants per community were catered during the lectures conducted highlighting the10 Kumainments as well as breastfeeding and proper complementary feeding. This activity was done simultaneous with the policy forum attended by the DOH U/Sec. Vicente Y. Belizario, Jr., DOH RO7 Regional Director Jaime S. Bernadas and other DOH 7 officials, NNC 7 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Parolita A. Mission, Bohol Governor Edgardo Chatto, Ubay Mayor, Vice Mayor, SB members and barangay captains.
The event was capped with a Buntis Pageant participated by 11 pregnant women of Ubay. NPC Dr. Mission gave a short message emphasizing the importance of healthy eating and lifestyle. Her speech was culminated with the “Eat My Gulay” dance performed by the BNSs and the NNC 7 delegation.
