Cebu Province – The Cebu Provincial Nutrition Council Secretariat started the first Provincial Nutrition Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) on 22 February 2016 and will continue on to 18 March 2016.

Seen as a way to know the current status of the municipal nutrition committees (MNCs) and barangay nutrition committees (BNCs), the provincial-level nutrition monitoring and evaluation provides vital information for possible action by the Provincial Nutrition Council and, at the same time, provides an avenue for the provincial nutritionist-dietitians and nutrition officers to give technical recommendations on how to improve their respective MNCs and BNCs.

Select municipalities were visited by the two (2) teams covering North and South Cebu, respectively. The North Cebu Team, composed of Nutritionist-Dietitian I (ND 1) Soje L. Tapulado, RND and Nutrition Officer II (NO II) Lorenz Dave V. Carillo, visited the municipalities of Compostela on February 22, Carmen on February 23, Borbon on March 1, Tabogon on March 2, Bogo City on March 3 and San Remigio on March 4. The team will be monitoring Tuburan on March 16, Santa Fe on March 17 and Madredijos on March 18.

On the other hand, the South Cebu Team, composed of ND 1 Loreza A. Lapinid, ND 1 Hanna C. Tolentino and NO II Dave F. Bargamento, visited the municipalities of Alegria on February 22, Samboan on February 23, Argao on February 29, Dalaguete on March 1, Oslob on March 2, Santander on March 3 and Ginatilan on March 4. The monitors will see the nutrition program implementation of Dumanjug on March 15, Barili on March 16, Sibonga on March 17 and Malabuyoc on March 18.

With this provincial MELLPI done, the Cebu Provincial Nutrition Council Secretariat aims to activate/reactivate the MNCs and empower the BNSs and other nutrition implementers to be able to improve the nutritional status of their respective municipalities / cities. //DFB
