Cebu City – Fusing fashion and nutrition, the Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) will launch the 2016 Nutrition Month Celebration through a series of activities dubbed as “nutriathlon” to help engage modern women’s interest in this years’ nutrition month theme: “First 1000 Days ni baby pahalagahan para sa malusog na kinabukasan”.

With its flagship activity to be conducted on 01 July 2016 at the Mountain Wing Atrium, SM Seaside City Cebu, SRP, Cebu City, nicknamed “Fusion of Fashion and Nutrition for Mother and Child #First1000Days” is a collaborative activity of the RNC with the Designing Nurses Assembly of the Philippine Nurses’ Association (DNA-PNA) with SM Seaside City and other partners.

The activity will showcase collections of maternity and lactation dresses by eight Cebuano designers from the DNA-PNA along with the showcase of entries for the region-wide breastfeeding photo contest and the complementary cooking/preparation contest to highlight all phases of the first 1,000 days of a child’s life.

About 800 pregnant and lactating women and mothers/caregivers of children 6-24 months are expected to attend from the different cities and municipalities in the metro. Participants will also feast on nutrition education via video clips and audio-visual presentations. Micronutrient powders and other freebies will also be given courtesy of Feed the Children Philippines, Philippine Pediatric Society Central Visayas Chapter and other partners. ///Norre Jean V. delos Santos.
