Cebu City – Going through the arduous Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) deliberation and coming out triumphant is in itself an achievement for local nutrition committees (LNC) who aim to take the region’s most coveted nutrition awards. That aside from of course, gaining a real tangible impact on the community’s malnutrition rate, getting the Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee’s seal of approval is just the cherry on top.
Giving more time to evaluate LNCs, the RNET has spent three months going to all corners of Central Visayas finding exemplary local government units (LGUs), good nutrition projects/practices and barangay nutrition scholars worthy of being given recognition in one of the region’s most popular Awarding Ceremony.
After an exhaustive RNET deliberation, the team has endorsed LGUs for the Green Banner Awards, the Good Nutrition Project/Practice Awards and the Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Awards, for the approval of the Regional Nutrition Committee during its 2nd Sem Full Committee Meeting held on 21 July 2015.
As approved by the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC), the following LGUs are to receive the Green Banner Awards: Carmen, Bohol (Outstanding Municipality in the Province of Bohol and 1st Runner-up for the Green Banner award); Pamplona, Negros Oriental (Outstanding Municipality in the Region and 2014 Green Banner awardee); Lapu-lapu City (1st Runner-up for the Search for Green Banner award); and Canlaon City (Outstanding City in the Region and Green Banner awardee).
The RNC also gave a nod to Ms. Mary Ann F. Reyes (Brgy. Looc, Danao City) as the Regional Outstanding BNS. Meanwhile, Ms. Nizan S. Raagas (Brgy. Tingub, Tanjay City) will be the 1st Runner-up and Ms. Evelyn L. Bolo (Brgy. Sudlon II, Cebu City) as the 2nd Runner-up for the Search for ROBNS award.
Also to be awarded is the City of Dumaguete for its Best Project (Walks and Wellness) and the City of Mandaue for its Best Practice (Nutrition Program Monitoring in Day Centers) as well as the following City Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars: Ms. Anonila C. Mariñas (Lapu-Lapu City), Ms. Cornelia B. Diaz (Dumaguete City), Ms. Mercedita M. Baya (Canlaon City) and Provincial Outstanding BNS: Ms. Andresa A. Manaquil (Brgy.
