Cebu City – The pandemic has put so much restraint on the daily activities and operation of the different government agencies in the country. Moreover, since the implementation of the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) in Cebu Province as well as its cities, many local government units (LGUs) have closed their borders from their neighboring cities and municipalities.
With said limitations, the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) being one of the most mobile members of the nutrition team offered to carry on the task of distributing information, education, and communication (IEC) materials produced by the National Nutrition Council to their constituents and select nutrition stakeholders. Such materials include flyers on Nutrition for Persons with Disability, “Be one of the spoons” shirts and Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) jackets, among others. The BNS association presidents personally distributed the shirts to their City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers and the PPAN jackets to their Local Chief Executives.
Ginatilan, Cebu BNS Association President Elizabeth D. Sagayno has extended her helping hand in handing over the PPAN jacket to their municipal mayor, Mayor Dean Michael P. Singco, and delivered the NAO t-shirt to their MNAO Dr. Rey S. Jabagat on 18 August 2021. While BNS President Maribeth S. Pepito of Asturias, Cebu personally brought the PPAN jacket to their local chief executive, Mayor Jose Antonio T. Pintor on 19 August 19, 2021. Malabuyoc, Cebu BNS Association President Teresita C. Fuentes, volunteered to give the PPAN jacket to their municipal dad, Mayor Lito Narciso E. Creus on 27 August 2021. These BNSs are instrumental in ensuring that these materials reach the target recipients.
BNS presidents opined that “Di gyud diay babag ang pandemya sa pagpanghatag sa NNC sa mga materials nga para sa among mga lumulopyo sa barangay, among doktor ug mayor sa among munisipalidad (The pandemic has never been a hindrance in distributing the materials that are intended for our barangays, our doctors and our municipal mayors).” // AA VI Ronalyn C.
