Cebu City – NNC 7 staged the 8th episode of Educational Health and Nutrition Information-Sharing Geared tOwards DevelopmenT (e-HISGOT) on 16 September 2021. The event merged three monthly educational programs of NNC 7: the e-HISGOT, Letters for Doc Letlet and May K sa F1K to streamline the region’s advocacy efforts in promoting good nutrition with focus on the First 1000 Days.
The unified virtual program retains the name “e-HISGOT” while using the format of Letters for Doc Letlet and covering the region’s key statement that everyone has a role to play in the First 1000 Days of a child’s life retaining topics of “May K ka sa F1K”.
The 8th offering highlighted pregnancy and obesity with September having been declared as National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. According to NPC Dr. Parolita A. Mission, it is important to create awareness, encourage advocacy, improve policies, and share experiences on the subject to prevent and control overweight and obesity. Presented during the forum, were the common causes of childhood obesity and its implication to the overall health of the child and the key interventions in the First 1000 Days with the hope to encourage the netizens to do optimal infant and young child practices, make healthy food choices, perform active lifestyle and practice the 10 Kumainments and use Pinggang Pinoyy as guide for healthy eating.
The activity garnered around 695 views, 65 likes, 91 comments, and a total of 55 shares and was participated by viewers in all walks of life from the different provinces in Central Visayas and outside the region.
NNC Central Visayas will continue its advocacy efforts in the promotion of good nutrition and the importance of the First 1000 Days of life through its ongoing virtual program that will be aired every third Thursday of the month.
