Cebu City – With the combined efforts from the regional and local level, the National Nutrition Council Region (NNC) 7 conducted the 2021 blended training workshop for Nutrition Program Management (NPM) and Nutrition in Emergencies on 13-17 September 2021.
The training workshop aims to equip the LGU participants in the nutrition program management, and served as a strategy to help them craft, update, and finalize their local nutrition actions based on the priorities of their updated PDPFP, CDP, LDIP, and allocated scaled-up budgets for nutrition with a focus on the First 1000 Days and Nutrition in Emergencies.
The five-day training workshop was facilitated by the NNC 7 technical secretariat team and was attended by the respective planning core group and LGU members from fifteen (15) local government units (LGUs) in Central Visayas, namely Canlaon City, Cebu City, City of Naga, Danao City, and the municipalities of Borbon, Carmen, Compostela, San Fernando, and San Remigio from the province of Cebu; the municipalities of La Libertad and Vallehermoso from Negros Oriental province; and Batuan, Dimiao, Sagbayan, and Sierra Bullones from the province of Bohol.
NNC 7 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Parolita A. Mission in her closing message congratulated all the participants for willingly and diligently finishing the blended activity despite the challenges. She also encouraged all the participating LGUs to properly identify and prioritize their interventions and targets to ensure a successful implementation. Dr. Mission also assured the participants that NNC 7 will always be open to assist LGUs in their program implementation.
The blended activity called for the online meetings conducted through google classrooms and zoom conference calls on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. While Tuesdays and Thursdays were allocated for asynchronous activities including recorded discussion and downloadable worksheets. Said activity was able to generate NiEM plans, LNAPs, and AIP proposals from the participating LGUs.
