Cebu City – “The pandemic has shown us fragility of life with the sudden loss of some friends and acquaintances because of the virus, the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and having a positive outlook in life, the value of connectedness – the worth of human interaction, which can also be done online. However, this did not hinder our organization to pursue our nutrition advocacies and make a difference in people’s lives.”
These are the words of encouragement delivered by NPC Dr. Parolita A. Mission of NNC 7 in her welcome address during the 2021 MIND 7 Media Review on 29 November 2021 at the Terrazas de Flores Botanical Garden, Cebu City and via zoom conference call.
The blended activity which was attended by twenty-three (23) participants did not only serve as venue to assess the status of the implementation of the 2021 Social and Behavior Change Communication campaign but also formulated the 2022 campaign plan where the group agreed on the goals, key messages, target audience and priority strategies and channel to use.
According to Dr. Mission, the disruption of some economic activities limits families to have access to safe and nutritious food which contributed to increasing hunger and malnutrition and some of the repercussions may be long-lasting”. She then challenged the officers of MIND 7 to be ready to innovate within the boundaries of your remit. She added that in an era when digital transformation becomes vital for organizations to deliver value to every Juan and Juana, the organization ought to continue pursuing the use of new technologies for nutrition information, education, and communication.
The 2022 priority messages will focus on debunking the myth that Filipinos are genetically short or stunted (putot) and the First 1000 Days of a child’s life is crucial for a healthier, taller, and brilliant children. The campaign will target pregnant mothers, and men and women of reproductive age using new and old strategies and platforms that are seen to be effective even in the new normal. Creating new and strengthening existing partnerships especially those initially linked for the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement will be pursued for next year’s campaign.
Watch out for these developments and for relevant, current and correct information on proper nutrition by following NNC R7 and MIND 7’s official media platforms. // NO II Norrejean V. Delos Santos
