Cebu City – There is no doubt that the Christmas holiday is right around the corner. And it’s almost certain that the Christmas holiday means more food, or rather lots of good, delicious, and tempting food. And it’s super easy to overindulge yourself to all those meals and treats but despite all that, it’s never impossible to have more healthier choices this Christmas season. Having more healthier choices doesn’t necessarily mean giving up the spirit of consuming delicious meals this Yuletide season, but it shouldn’t also mean you should also compromise your own health.
Here are some tips to guide you to more healthier meals this Christmas season.
1. Be a smart shopper. With the Christmas season here, it’s all but certain that the need for grocery shopping will be more frequent or be more than usual. Use this opportunity to choose more healthier ingredients. Be more resourceful and take advantage by reading labels and introducing more colors to your dishes.
2. Go for green. Usually, tables will be filled with lots of savory, starchy, sweet meals which doesn’t save a lot of room for fruits or vegetables. Try to introduce more healthier options by incorporating more greens as side dishes or salads.
3. Take advantage using a small plate. When there are lots of food, there are lots of options. Take advantage in using a small plate so that you can practice or develop the habit of taking smaller proportions.
4. Be mindful on what you eat. Don’t get the best out of good food. Be always mindful that consuming a lot won’t be beneficial to your health.
Remember not to overindulge yourself. Moderation is the key to enjoy the holiday without adding on that unwanted belly. // NO I Gab M. Flores, RND
