breakfast

Cebu City—Breakfast as we all know is the most important meal of the day. It is a way to reenergize the body from all the ‘fasting’ it went while you were sleeping. Most of the times people tend to skip eating breakfast due to a lot of reasons. One of which would be that there is no more time to prepare the meal or time to sit down and eat because the preparation for going to work or school takes most of the time. Another reason would be that people think that skipping meals makes them lose weight, therefore they tend to do ‘brunch’ meals which is the combination of breakfast and lunch. But doing so does the opposite of what they intent to do.

Eating a hearty and delicious breakfast is a great way to start the day. Here are a few quick and easy recipes to prepare for breakfast whether it’s for yourself or for the whole family.

Toasted bread and Jam

Toasted bread is a great pair with your favorite jam. Another way to spice up your toasted bread is trying to make it as French Toast. French toast may sound fancy, but it is easy enough to make every morning so here’s an easy recipe to follow:

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar, optional
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for the pan
  • 8 to 10 slices bread, preferably stale or day-old bread

Procedure:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Break the eggs into a wide, shallow bowl or pie plate and beat them lightlywith a fork or whisk.
  • Stir the milk, sugar, and salt into the beaten eggs.
  • Coat a skillet or griddle with a thin layer of butter. Place it over medium-low heat.
  • Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl or plate. Let the bread soak up the egg mixture for a few seconds and then carefully turn to coat the other side. Coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time to prevent soggy French toast.
  • Transfer the egg-coated bread slices to the hot skillet or griddle. Heat slowly until the bottom is golden brown. Turn and brown the other side.
  • Serve French toast hot with butter and syrup, or your preferred toppings. Enjoy.
