Cebu City – The National Nutrition Council Region VII continues its orientation to the municipality Siquijor and its covered seven barangays for the Phase 4 of Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program (TKSP). The Municipality of Siquijor is one of the priority areas for the Phase 4 implementation having a target number of 100 children aged 6-23 months old as its beneficiaries.
The TKSP is set to start this January of 2022. The said program will run for 180 calendar days or 6 months providing supplemental feeding to beneficiaries in a form of dry feeding scheme.
As part of the preparatory activities, all covered barangays are asked to submit masterlists for their beneficiaries as well as contact point per barangay to easily monitor the implementation of the program. All barangays are also encouraged to conduct supplementary activities such as nutrition education for mothers and caregivers.
Part of the program will be the nutri text blasting wherein beneficiaries and caregivers will receive daily nutrition tips and messages than can be use in a day-to-day life. The Barangay Nutrition Scholars shall monitor the nutritional status especially at the start and end of the feeding as basis during the program monitoring and evaluation.
With the success of the implementation of Phase 1 and Phase 2, this program may serve as a model to all government units to include local dietary supplementation program in their local nutrition action plans especially in this time of pandemic. // PNFP Siquijor Mary Bliss Joy P. Iguana, RND
