Cebu City – The Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars Associations of Region VII (FeBaNuSA 7), Inc., together with the National Nutrition Council Region VII concluded its last session of Barangay Nutrition Scholars mentoring. The session was facilitated by the association’s vice president, who is also the President of Cebu Province BNS Association, BNS Evangeline M. Villarta. Thos was held on 29 November 2021 covered communication skills needed by BNSs. With her were the other officers who were also mentors in the previous sessions.
The activity aims to empower BNSs to fully function in their respective LGUs with the help of the of the mentoring sessions that included topics on Mobilizing Barangay Nutrition Committee, Barangay Nutrition Scholars and their Role in Documentation and Communication Skills discussed by officers assigned. The mentoring session was done from September to November 2021
With the fast turnover of BNSs in the barangays, FeBaNuSA 7, Inc. focuses on the need of the BNSs to be fully equipped to provide quality nutrition services in their assigned barangays. Part of the re-entry plan of the mentee is to share his/her learned knowledge and skills to his/her co-BNSs.
The federation intends to carry on more mentoring sessions in the different provinces of Central Visayas and hopes to conduct it in person in the future when restrictions set by local government units ease up. As what the BNS Coordinator, BNS Lucia C. Arellano said ‘Mas maayo kung ang mentoring face to face kay mas maklaro ug makit-an nga nakuha nila ang skill nga gitudlo.”// ND II Suzette Jade M.
